Slot Volatility Explained Simply
Volatility (variance) is how far real results deviate from the average. It explains why a short session is deceptive and why structure only shows up over distance.
Volatility and RTP are different
RTP is where the average lands over distance. Volatility is how jagged the path there will be. Two slots with the same RTP can feel opposite: one pays often and small, the other rarely and big.
Why a session lies
On a short stretch, the spread overrides the average: a strong plus or minus 'proves' nothing. Hence the illusion of 'hot' slots and signals.
How to read it
Volatility sets the length of tails and the density of bonuses. Bankroll and bet relate to it, not to a feeling. A bonus buy is play at maximum variance.
Bottom line
Understanding the spread is protection from mistaking randomness for a pattern. It's the foundation of reading the system.
